24A- Venture Concept No. 1

              I’ve lived most of my life on the water so the beach is a second home to me and we know in this increasing population that means more trash and sadly our beaches and bodies of water suffer from the pollution and debris that all of us humans make. That is why it is my company and product’s goal is to help preserve our beaches for our own benefit. I want this company to do more than just sell products, I want to make a difference in my own community and others dealing with the same sort of problem. In order to fully achieve and facilitate my idea of the sea sweeper into a reality that would help millions of people, I must create an opportunity for myself and have something innovative that someone has never created before or at least to the same efficiency as my product.

              The opportunity that lies upon me is due to the constant pollution and trash falling into our waterways and either killing our marine life or destroying their homes. My old neighborhood and the community of St. Petersburg is struggling to keep our beaches clean and weekly volunteers cannot keep up with the amount of pollution that is coming in. The people with this need is practically everyone living or visiting a beach or body of water. They see this trash everyday and want to solve this problem but realize they can’t do it by themselves. The nature of this need is obviously due to this pollution but indirectly due to overpopulation and the effects of ignorance and laziness of the human population. The forces creating this opportunity is honestly human ignorance and laziness like I described, people overpopulate and then throw their trash as they please instead of properly disposing of it and it creates a big problem like we have in the long run. This market is defined to the coast geographically and I feel like the demographic is best described as the younger population because these are the people that will be affected and see the really harmful effects of pollution. Customers are currently satisfying this need by products that slow down or prevent the pollution such as reusable straws or cups but no products directly take care of the problem we have at hand. This opportunity is big because it will directly pick at the problem and will have a greater effect than prevention at this given time and this window will be open for as long as the oceans and water is polluted with trash and chemicals.

The new product would be essentially a net that can pick up trash when you are anchored, coasting, or any slow movement on a vessel that would work on the sides of the boat, involving essentially no work other than lowering the nets and lifting them up when they are full of trash and then correctly disposing of the trash. I will make my money by selling the products cheap with a cheap cost but the real money maker is the apparel and other items I sell after my brand is built. My main focus is to first help the community and make marginal profit. If it takes $5 to make my product than I will sell it for $10.

              My venture concept is that people will be hooked on the idea that they are helping the environment tremendously by buying my product with minimal effort and not going out of your way to do much. You simply attach my product on the boat you already have, put it down when you drive, and empty the trash when you are done. It is simple, cheap, but very effective and I think that there are good people in this world still that want to make a difference but either don’t have the time or money and I believe this product helps cut down those obstacles. This product is good because it is new and you don’t need to switch up your routine or your current product because there is no current product. The competitors don’t exist because this is such a specific product that no one out there has the same idea.

              This product has so much potential and all it takes is a little wave or trend of people willing to spend a little money and work to help make a big difference. My future plans for this venture is to have enough capital to donate my products to large commercial fishing companies to help our movement and then sell merchandise that can help make money and allow for more opportunity to help the community.
