27-A Reading Reflection No. 3

1) I read "The Art of Social Media: Power Tips for Power Users" by Guy Kawasaki because in today's day and age, everything from marketing to socializing revolves around social media and I thought it would be interesting to learn more about what I already know about the different kinds of social media. This books main summary is that it is just a compilation of tips and tricks that the author wanted to share with the reader about different strategies of social media and how to use them. The book essentially teaches you how to use the information given to you in order to form social media in your  favor including how to create good content and how to edit and enhance what you post on the internet. One important aspect from the book I remembered was the idea that you can over do it and it was extremely important that you do not post too much because once you do, you lose respect and you just look like you're trying to spam and be annoying.

2) This book enhanced my learning in ENT because in this class we briefly touched up on some marketing strategies in the lectures and this book really gave me good insight on advertising through social media which is very abundant in my generation. Other than that I think that the whole book revolved around using social media to grow your business and it is essentially what this class is trying to do.

3) If I had to design an exercise for this class I would have each student make a social media for their business and do some direct marketing and going and asking people what they think about their product based on their social media's and see if people are more interested in the products after seeing a well developed social media.

4) My biggest "aha" moment was when I found out that there is a limit to what you should post as in you CAN post too much. I used to think that the more you got posts and messages out, the more people it would reach so the more people you may get interested.

  1. Hi Nathan,

We actually didnt pick the same book but I did learn a lot about the book that you picked. The most important and most interesting thing that I took away from your post was about the limit on social media posts. I feel like you typically hear that you social media presence is everything and you should be on social media as much as possible so it is great to hear that it is not necessary to an extreme extent. I also liked your proposed exercise. I think it is very practical and can be very useful for a starting firm.
