7A Testing the Hypothesis
1) An opportunity I would like to pursue is the one that helps prevent the further litter and take care of the current debris in our water.
2) The government and environmental agencies that are working to solve this problem are moving too slow and not efficient enough to make a difference within the next 50 years.
Who: Government and environmental agencies
What: They are unable to efficiently remove debris and plastic from our oceans and unable to create a program to prevent further damage
Why: It is not on the top of their agenda
3) I think this idea has a great potential to succeed but there is a problem, it takes mass people to help and it takes massive engineering and technology to develop things that could help pick up trash from the ocean. But, I believe smaller technology that could help the prevention of further trash in our oceans.
4) Instead of separately writing a summary of each interview I have instead decided to combine it into one where I feel like the most emphasis was brought. I interviewed 5 college students because those were the ones at my disposal. Many of them, probably due to being a younger audience have a strong opinion about saving our marine wildlife and sustaining our environment. Many said not only would they buy and pay a premium for options that really do help prevent the further destruction of our environment, but they themselves are willing to put an effort into research or some sort of brainstorming for ideas. But, there were also a lot of negative outlooks on my hypothesis including how we would get or come up with ideas that could actually make a difference as it takes years and years of research to come up with something that could help take care of this problem.. I don't believe the who or what would be a problem for this opportunity because there are enough people who believe in this cause to make it successful but the process of developing these goods at affordable prices may be a problem. All of this is a work in progress and it is hopeful but it depends on the work of the producer. What I learned from these interviews that many more people are in support of this opportunity than I had previously thought and that people feel strongly about it.
Nathan,
ReplyDeleteI found your post to be extremely pertinent to today’s world. Littering is such a big problem affecting our environment, and even though people are aware that they shouldn’t be so careless as to trash our planet, they still do it. It is important that we do something to solve the problem but you are right in that people are not doing enough. I think that younger generations are becoming more concerned with this issue, and that there is a great opportunity in solving the problem. I think you did a great job at evaluating a problem in our world that really affects our lives and should be turned into an opportunity.
Hi Nathan,
ReplyDeleteI think that you presented a great opportunity. I think you picked a topic that people are actually passionate about, but also something that they doubt they will see come to fruition. This opportunity has the potential to be widely adopted by the younger generation, and funded by those who care deeply about the cause. Ultimately, lots of things that make huge differences take years of research.
